Presentation Description: The Offshore Wind turbine industry is multidisciplinary and requires manpower from different industries and skill sets. However, for one, people and students are generally unaware of such opportunities, and for the other, there are very few workforce development institutions in the USA. Some studies have identified job-specific worker requirements till the years 2040 and 2050 for renewable energy and offshore wind industry, there is a gap in the infrastructure requirement for training such a large number of workers required to work on these rapidly evolving technologies. This poster presentation takes a look at the current and future challenges with workforce development and proposes strategies that may be useful to meet the demands of this evolving industry. The poster also looks at different career opportunities and several positions that may open in these areas shortly and in the future. The poster also looks at initiatives, support, and funding from the government and other agencies that are likely to benefit the development of a skilled workforce to work on future technologies.
