How the FAA Makes Decisions: Is It a Question of Safety?

Presentation Description: When a renewable energy project is filed with the FAA, a thorough aeronautical study is completed which involves as many as eleven different federal offices. After their initial review, the FAA will often rely on feedback from air traffic controllers and the public prior to making a decision. Most decisions are data-driven by analyzing historical air traffic operations to answer the question: will air traffic operations be able to safely and efficiently operate after the project is built? This presentation will show examples of data analysis predict the results of FAA's aeronautical study.
