Lara Hamsher, MSC (she/her/hers)

Director of Stakeholder Relations, Social Impact & Sustainability
AES

Lara Hamsher is the Director of Stakeholder Relations, Impact and Sustainability for AES US' Renewables Business.
Lara oversees a growing team of 25+ professionals, guiding AES' social and sustainability efforts for a substantial renewable portfolio – 6.9 GW of operating assets across 26 states and a 51 GW development pipeline. Her core purpose is driving positive change, empowering communities, and fostering a sustainable future for our planet.
As a second-generation energy professional, Lara's dedication to this sector runs deep. Following an undergraduate degree in Architecture & Urbanism from Smith College and initial years in design, she transitioned to the energy industry in 2014.
Lara's commitment to a sustainable future led her to the renewables industry in 2019, first with sPower, and then joining AES upon their acquisition in 2020. At AES, she has spearheaded the development of the Stakeholder Relations, Sustainability, and Impact team.
Lara's passion extends beyond her role at AES. A strong advocate for women in energy, she is a founding member of Women of AES Clean Energy and sits on the boards of Women's Energy Network Utah and the Women’s Energy Network National Foundation.
When Lara steps away from work, she prioritizes time with two daughters, a pre-teen and a toddler. She enjoys exploring the outdoors and traveling, creating lasting memories with her family.
